investigate the death of byron filip was found shot to death in front of a store. police say at 6:00 tuesday morning, he broke into the store not knowing that someone was inside. counsel for the business identified it as the store's owner. butler and filip got into an altercation in side of the business and he was shot. he then ran out of the business and collapsed in the parking lot. he has been having difficulties with people breaking into the store, which police have responded to. as far as philip, he had a vast criminal record to second-degree assault, theft, and drug offenses and court appearances for credit card fraud and drug

offenses. police tell us so far no charges have been filed in this case. >> police are investigating two shootings this christmas. the most recent was at 7:30 this morning in northwest baltimore. officers responded to a call and found an adult male suffering from a shotgun would. in a few hours earlier, officers responded to a shooting in west baltimore. investigators say they found a person with a wound to his upper body. he was taken to an area hospital. no word on a suspect. an update on the double shooting. police have identified one of these victims. investigators say he was shot multiple times. he later died at the hospital.

the second woman walked into a hospital. she is expected to recover. peace is at the top of the wish list for pope benedict, addressing people overlooking st. peter's piazza. he touched on china as part of his blessing and offered prayers for peace in syria, a solution to the crisis, and tolerance in china. the catholic church faces discrimination from the communist leaders. he also encouraged egypt to build a just and respectful societies. the archbishop is getting his first taste as leader of the archdiocese and baltimore. he celebrated his first christmas mass with hundreds of parishioners at the cathedral of mary our queen. he spoke on the meaning of christmas and the tragedy in connecticut. >> my heart was cells of the folks -- is with all of the

folks, asking the lord to give them consolation and healing. certainly to let them know our solidarity with them in prayer. they have been inundated with so many things, phone calls, but what they and really need are our prayers'. >> he spent 11 years as bishop of bridgeport, conn. for jews, christmas is a day of volunteering. more than 600 took place. families prepared winter care packages for homeless shelters. they include scarfs and hats made by members of the community. organizers say it was important for the children. >> i have the two daughters. it is wonderful to get them involved in volunteering. i want them to understand the holidays are about 10 back.

>> more than 1000 were made. holiday dinners were also served around town. today is the eighth year for this event. authorities have recovered human remains from a house in webster, n.y., to the suspected shooter shared with his sister. she had been missing since yesterday. officials believe the remains are hers. younger brother, william spengler, is responsible for setting fires and ambition first responders. two firefighters were shot and killed. authorities say they have also found a typewritten note from spengler saying he wanted to burn down the neighborhood and "kill people." the weapon is the same used in the elementary school shooting. in that community today, police officers received a gift of time.

officers from across the state have stepped up to fill in so every police officer from newtown could spend christmas at homes with their families. they have been working nonstop since the shooting that left 20 students and six others dead. dozens are trying to help come for the community. the group passed out free hot chocolate to children on christmas eve. while many americans celebrated at home, some were outdoors and a few were far away. for so it was a welcome relief for a day to rest before tomorrow. >> some of us had to work today, but not everyone. mother nature helped santa claus deliver a white christmas, from new england, to the hills of colorado, a winter wonderland for people of all ages. and there for a friends, too.

>> some netflix users were out of luck. the service was out for a good chunk of the day. netflix blamed amazon's claude infrastructure for the problem. they are back to normal, stringing -- this is the third time this year that an amazon added has disrupted netflix. how many grew up in a home or your parents had a train track around the christmas tree? this gave birth to holiday train gardens around the country and you will find plenty of them in maryland, including this one from the volunteer fire department.

>> it is that the volunteer fire department. it is free and open to the public. nasty storms are moving to the cells, causing a christmas nightmare. three tornados have been reported in texas. one man in houston was killed. they are blocking the road way. the midwest is dealing with heavy snow and ice. remnants of that storm being blamed for a car pileup that happened just before 3:00 this morning as freezing rain fell overnight. 21 cars were involved in that crash. 12 people were hurt. none of them appear to be serious. >> now your insta-weather plus forecast with tony pann. >> the store may visit us

tomorrow. it was the same system i was talking about. you have called their diving down into the plains states and warm air from the southeast. that is where you get the big storm. this one is pretty good. it has snow on the backside. including tornados. some tornadoes coming out of louisiana and eventually into alabama as well. and then portions of arkansas back into oklahoma and texas. this is ongoing in our direction. this will be a rain even for us. there is one part of the day we have to watch, temperatures may start out below freezing. while the rain is coming in, there might be some icy patches. it is the temperatures that will be the thing we are watching number one, the clouds are streaming out ahead of the storm system. it?

like a blanket. if it were a clear sky this evening, temperatures will drop off and we would be in big trouble tomorrow morning. the clouds are a good thing. the air is relatively saturated. that is a good sign, temperatures will not drop off really fast. if it were in the 20's or something like that, we would have a problem with freezing rain. the temperature at the airport is 41 degrees. the suburbs are already in the 30's. even with the clouds and the moisture, the temperatures will likely drop off below freezing. fredrik, 34. 36 in westminster. winter weather advisories are in effect for the northern and western suburbs tomorrow morning. they should probably include northern baltimore county. there could be freezing rain or snow to start the day and then it will changeover to rain.

some of that trend could be heavy, especially in the afternoon. there is another storm already coming onshore on saturday. the forecast for tonight, increasing clouds and temperatures into the 30's. when you wake up tomorrow morning, there could be some icing going on. freezing rain or sleet, maybe some snow, changing over to rain. it will be a heavy rain. high temperature at 40 degrees. it could and early thursday morning. the next storm is on saturday. we could get a significant snow event out of that. we will keep an eye on it. >> from the susquehanna banks, this is the 11 sports. >> ravens players are off today. the coaches will report this evening and when the players report back tomorrow, there is a
